Our work strands:

project delivery

We design, produce and deliver uplifting arts-powered experiences in communities across Sussex, for every sort of people. We curate programmes, events and festivals with care, creativity and social impact, especially for those facing significant health inequalities who are most excluded from creative opportunities, including disabled adults, adult and young carers, people with Dementia and families and young people experiencing poverty and associated challenges such as educational under-achievement and social stigma.

Partnership working is fundamental to our approach to project delivery and our partners include local authority and public service providers, arts and cultural organisations, schools, colleges, and universities.

facilitation

We have extensive experience in holding a process of engagement, bringing participants together for planning, consultation or group activity.

Our approach is asset-based, inclusive and accessible to ensure that participants are engaged creatively, with a shared sense of purpose.

"Working with Julia and the team at Culture Shift is always a pleasure. They manage to balance a warm approachable style of project communication with a very professional delivery. They also seem to really understand public health work which is always a bonus and makes our job that bit easier!"

David Brindley, Public Health Programme manager,

Ageing Well/Dying Well, Brighton & Hove City Council

co-design

We have delivered a diverse number of co-designed projects, including a community garden project designed with disabled service users, staff, and our research partners at the University of Brighton.

training

We specialise in delivering bespoke training which has been developed directly through our project delivery experience, specifically targeted at the arts, culture and community sectors.

“I was very impressed by the style and tone of the Culture Shift training on Disability Awareness. The session was informative, insightful but also fun. This was our first IRL team training since the pandemic and everyone was made to feel safe and comfortable to have conversations about disability in constructive and positive ways.”
Steve Moffitt, CEO, A New Direction

research + evaluation

We are often asked to undertake evaluation and research projects, from large scale HLF programmes to innovative Research and Development projects. We often use a Theory of Change evaluation framework to help define goals, outcomes and success criteria and we have developed a number of creative, participatory evaluation tools and research processes that capture a wide range of voices, including those whose experience is often marginalised or neglected.
