diversity + music + community = advocacy

Delta 7 is a seven-piece post-punk rock band which was formed as a result of an Arts Connect music course in 2014. The band members have different personalities, talents, and disabilities but their shared love of performing, positive energy and mutual support allows them to create music that is infectious and inspiring. Delta 7 is an uplifting and powerful voice for everyone who feels a little outside of ‘mainstream’ society.

The band is based in Eastbourne, East Sussex, and meets regularly to

rehearse and write original music, supported by professional musicians and a small army of loyal friends and fans. Delta 7 regularly performs live at gigs and music festivals and leads workshops for other people who want to learn about song writing and musicianship.

During the period of restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the members of Delta 7 continued to stay connected through weekly online meetings, rehearsals and writing songs together. The band were delighted to have secured funding in 2020 from the PRS Foundation. The funding enabled the recording of their third album, The Lockdown Sessions, inspired by their experience of the pandemic.

"We want to be able to do what other bands do. We want to get better and the only way we can do that is by keeping making music, isn't it"

Delta 7 members have become leaders in a number of our projects, currently steering Being Our Best Selves and hosting Circus Of Sound Cabaret. Lucy and Mikey also advocate accessibility on our digital platforms as our Access Advisors.

The story of Delta 7 has also been documented in 2 award-winning films directed by Rosie Baldwin, We Rise and DELTA 7EVEN. To find out more follow this link, Delta 7 Films page.

"Delta 7 create a brilliantly atmospheric sound that reminds me of post-punk band, The Fall. Their message reminds us all of the

value of music as a tool of empowerment. We’re proud and

honoured to support the band”

Mike Oughton, Creative Director, McCann London
