Holiday Activities and Food (HAF)

The government’s Holiday and Food programme (HAF) aims to make sure children and young people eligible for free school meals have access to food and quality activity over the holidays. In Easter 2021 we were part of the HAF pilot.

HAF has been a great opportunity to extend our Space to Create programme and the relationships we have with schools and communities, connecting with children, young people and their families during the holidays.

Our Space to Create holiday clubs for primary aged children in Sidley are delivered as part of the Heart of Sidley partnership. We also deliver holiday clubs at Robsack Wood Primary Academy in St Leonards.

As well as our holiday clubs in the Hastings area, we have also delivered activities in Rye and sessions for teenagers focusing on football skills in Lewes.

At our holiday clubs we have been able to offer college and university students work experience and the opportunity to learn from our team of coordinators who manage all the food and logistics and the creative practitioners who deliver arts based activities.

"I feel more confident to express myself"

“'A' had great fun and lots of care and interaction from staff. She spoke out for the first time in an interview and now loves vegi burgers”

“Absolutely delighted with the programme. My son loved it! I wouldn’t have been able to afford clubs during the holidays, so I am grateful for this programme.”
