about Culture Shift

Culture Shift was established in 2011 by the people behind Creative Partnerships in Sussex and Surrey.

 

Partnership remains at the heart of our approach. Our small core team often works alongside freelance creatives, each bringing specific areas of expertise to our projects, click for a list here 

Julia Roberts

Chief Executive officer

Julia is a theatre specialist with a portfolio of experience which includes working as a Performing Arts consultant for the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust, Creative Agent for Creative Partnerships Sussex and Surrey and Programme Manager and Live Arts Creative Producer for Carousel; a disability arts organisation based in Brighton. 

 

She works as an artist internationally for The International Schools Theatre Association and is a Theatre Quality Assessor for Arts Council England. 

 

Within the Culture Shift team, Julia plays a key role in project and partnership development, leading on:

 

  • Our work with disabled people including The Arts Connect  programme, management of Delta 7 and the development and delivery of Disability Awareness Training 

  • Facilitation projects including work for Theatre Centre, Coastal West Sussex, Brighton and Hove City Council and East Sussex County Council Adult Services  

  • Event management including the Every Sort Of People Festival

Julia

Sarah Hinks

Programme lead

Initially with a Degree in Art History and a career in book publishing Sarah has worked in management positions in both the public and private sectors alongside developing a successful freelance consultancy practice. Sarah is an experienced facilitator, trainer and project manager designing and delivering a range of workshops, including service redesign and strategy development. She has a track record of building effective working partnerships and successful relationships with key stakeholders across the public, private and third sectors.  

Sarah joined Culture Shift in 2019, leading on: 

  • Careers, Employability and Skills programmes  

  • Supporting key project and partnership developments   

Claire fowler

Chief Operating Officer

                            

Claire has over twenty years experience working in the TV broadcast and creative design industry in the UK and Europe.  Her portfolio of experience includes ten years at MTV, managing the operational output of the creative team, Producer at Woolf Olins, a global design and branding agency and Head of Production at Fox Kids Europe. 

sam Seymour

Digital Communication & Data Assistant 

Sam Seymour joined Culture Shift in 2021 as part of a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship. During his apprenticeship Sam supported the delivery of project activities, primarily the Creative Café programme as well as supporting our digital communications and processing data.

In a previous life he gained an Undergraduate degree in Creative Writing from London Metropolitan University, after which he worked for the Post Office as a Postmaster/Operations Manager.

Sam

Luke Reed-George

Project Manager

Luke joined Culture Shift as a Programme Assistant in 2022, after working with us as a coach on our ‘Being our Best selves’ programme. 

Luke has a degree in Psychology and Criminology from the University of the West of England (UWE). Before joining the team, Luke worked for The Probation Service for Five years, as a Residential Worker and then a Probation Services Officer.

Lucy Walker

Access advisor 

Lucy Walker (AKA Lister Cat) joined the band Delta 7 in 2015 and has also taken part in many Culture Shift projects, including projects based at the Towner Gallery Eastbourne where she also works as a volunteer.  Lucy is a prolific artist and has her work exhibited and profiled by Project Artworks https://projectartworks.org/makers/lucy-walker/. She also creates artwork for Delta 7 and the Being Our Best Selves programme.

mikey reynolds

Access advisor 

Mikey Reynolds (AKA DJ Mikey) has been working with Culture Shift since 2013 when he took part in the Arts Connect pilot programme and he has not stopped since! He has been an Arts Connect Ambassador, a founder member of the band Delta 7, the Being Our Best Selves programme and our resilience research project with University of Brighton. Mikey is also a member of the East Sussex County Council Involvement Matters Team advocating for learning disabled people.
