Creative Career insights

still from session with primary age children in school

young people + professional = iNSPIRATION and aspiration

Creative Career Insights are interactive encounters designed to offer affordable careers related learning directly to primary and secondary schools, and colleges.

Our Creative Career Insights support students to develop skills and increase their understanding of the practical application of literacy, numeracy and creativity in careers.

Students gain an insight into careers within the creative and digital industries.

East Sussex Primary Careers Hub commissioned us to deliver careers related sessions both face to face and online within targeted primary schools. The aims of the pilot were to:

  • widen aspirations and increase pupil confidence

  • challenge job role stereotypes

  • increase awareness of the different types of jobs within the creative industries

  • to highlight the use of literacy, numeracy and creativity within the world of work

What's on offer?

Each Creative Career Insight offers:

  • A choice from 12 short films introducing different professionals and their individual areas of work

  • Resource sheets produced by professionals to introduce the tasks that will be used within the workshop

  • An online or face to face workshop with a chosen professional

The introductory films are free to access below.

Students could have the chance to learn about creative careers for example, weaving, song writing, music making, poetry, performance or arts & crafts. These activities have been used by schools to support and feed into their curriculum.

"After a nervous start, the Year 7 girls got right into it! They went from hiding their writing in their pockets, frightened someone would see it, to having a really open chat with each other then handing their writing over for the final poem at the end of the session. Total 180! " [Teacher]
