what we do
We deliver a diverse portfolio of projects, working with a wide range of beneficiaries including children and young people, disabled people, their families and carers. Partnership working is fundamental to our approach to project delivery and our partners include local authority and public service providers, arts and cultural organisations, schools, colleges, and universities. We deliver our work both online and in person, across many different community contexts – from schools and public buildings such as museums and libraries, to community spaces such as Lewes Football Stadium and the Secret Garden at Emmaus Brighton.

We have extensive experience in holding a process of engagement, bringing participants together for planning, consultation or group activity. Our approach is asset-based, inclusive and accessible to ensure that participants are engaged creatively, with a shared sense of purpose.

We have delivered a diverse number of co-designed projects, including a community garden project designed with disabled service users, staff, and our research partners at the University of Brighton.
Another example is an Autistic-friendly guide designed with service users and carers for East Sussex Library Services.
We specialise in delivering bespoke training which has been developed directly through our project delivery experience. Often specifically targeted at the arts, culture and community sectors, for example, Disability Awareness Training and Creative Facilitation Training.
research + evaluation
Each year Culture Shift gets involved in a small number of evaluation and research projects, from large scale HLF programmes to innovative Research and Development projects. We often use a Theory of Change framework to help define goals, outcomes and success criteria. We employ action research and participatory evaluation practices to create evaluation tools and research processes that capture a wide range of voices, including those whose experience is often marginalised or neglected.
