Children + creativity + CONNECTIONS = wellbeing

SPACE TO CREATE is our primary age creative wellbeing programme, designed to support children develop in confidence and self esteem and manage the stresses and challenges they face during everyday life. Led by two creative practitioners experienced in therapeutic practice and supporting vulnerable children, programmes normally run after school for 8-10 weeks.

Activities range from arts and crafts to music and drama. Where possible we use outdoor space as well for our activities. Children complete Discover Arts Award as part of the programme.

We are currently funded through BBC Children in Need to work in Hastings and Bexhill over the next two years.

We like to make time to work with families. Each year we schedule three half term or holiday sessions in local cultural venues. This summer with support from Hastings Opportunity Area, we delivered 2 Family Arts Projects in Ore and Hollington. These were run within safe COVID guidelines and offered families a space to be creative together. For children, these sessions helped prepare them for a return to schools.

"...helped me communicate with strangers, and be creative."

"I feel more confident to express myself"

"because its like school, having fun and learning how to keep 2 meters apart."

Space To Create Online

We also created online content for children which offered vital support for families and schools throughout the COVID-19 lockdown. There are a series of 30-minute videos and accompanying activity sheets to complete at home.
