Wellbeing Programmes in Schools

8 January 2018

Building on the success of two years’ delivery of the Telling Your Story programme in Hastings and Rother schools, we are thrilled to now have 3 year funding from BBC Children in Need, to run this programme in three secondary schools: Bexhill Academy, Ark Helenswood Academy and Ark William Parker Academy.

Telling Your Story is an 8 week after school creative programme focused on building self-esteem, confidence and resilience.

This programme is targeted at young people who will benefit from small groups and a creative space outside of the curriculum. Telling Your Story combines creative activities with space for talking, helping young people manage challenges and develop their creative voice.

Sessions respond to needs and interests of the group. Where possible the programme includes using outdoor space and a trip to a cultural venue.

This year, with funding from Hastings and Rother CCG, we will also be piloting a similar programme in three primary schools; Baird Primary Academy, Churchwood Primary Academy and St Leonards Primary Academy.

This primary school wellbeing programme is called Space to Create.

The creative team for both programmes consists of artists Ed Boxall, Bec Garland, Riz Maslen and Janey Moffatt.
