Open Sesame! evaluation report

21 November 2013

We are delighted to publish our in-depth final evaluation of the Open Sesame project, which ran across Sussex and Surrey from 2012 to 2013.

Open Sesame! has made a compelling case for collaboration between nurseries, early years practitioners and artists, and has provided a wealth of ideas for improving creative learning for the under 5, and engaging families in the creative development of very young children.

It was the result of a partnership between early years and arts professionals across Sussex and Surrey, and was supported by Arts Council England.

The project brought together artists and early years practitioners, focusing on communities with high levels of deprivation. Trainee artists worked with the nurseries, learning from each other and from a team of experienced artist mentors, to introduce art, music, dance and other forms of creative expression into the day-to-day play and development of under 5’s.
