Delta 7 is a seven-piece rock band who met on an Arts Connect music course in 2014. The band write and perform all their own material.

Band members Mikey, Fraser, Elliot, Harry, David, Craig and Speedy have different personalities, talents and disabilities. But their shared love of performing, positive energy and mutual support allows them to create music that is infectious and inspiring, making Delta 7 an uplifting and powerful voice for everyone who feels a little outside ‘the mainstream’ of society.

Now the band get together regularly to rehearse and enjoy each other’s company. They are supported by professional musicians Tom Cook and Sam Baldwin and through Culture Shift’s Arts Connect programme.

Their story of Delta 7 – how seven individuals with learning disabilities came together to express themselves through music and challenge stereotypes – was told in an award winning film, We Rise, made by film-maker Rosie Baldwin and shown at Picturehouse Cinemas across the country.

Delta 7 regularly play gigs and music festivals, and have started running workshops for other people with learning disabilities who want to learn about song writing and musicianship.

In 2017 they released their first single, ‘The Jungle’ along with an official pop video.

Profits from every sale go towards supporting the ambitions of the band to continue to make music and perform more widely so they can inspire others and speak for everyone in society who understands what it is to feel ‘different’.

In 2018, Delta 7 released their first album, ‘Summer Waves’, which is
available to buy from Culture Shift and will also be available wherever the band perform.

The band is very close to my heart.

Harry Fairchild, Vocalist, Delta 7

Delta 7 is very important to us. We have a great time together, we look out for each other, we understand each other. It is great to be part of the band.

It’s amazing what a difference being in the band has made. Craig has become so confident and full of himself! It’s incredible, I can’t believe it.

Parent of Craig Post, Rapper, Delta 7

Delta 7 create a brilliantly atmospheric sound that reminds me of post-punk band, The Fall. Their message reminds us all of the value of music as a tool of empowerment. We’re humbled and honoured to be able to help the band and the charity grow further with the release of ‘The Jungle’.
