Arts Connect in East Sussex 2014-2017

acheader2webCulture Shift was commissioned by East Sussex County Council to deliver Arts Connect, creating new opportunities for learning disabled people to take part in arts activities in their communities.

The programme built on the success of Arts Connect in 2013-14 and 2014-15.

Get Connected events offered learning disabled people, carers, service managers, artists & cultural organisations a chance to get together and share information about opportunities for learning disabled people to take part in cultural activities.

Short courses and masterclasses were delivered in venues across East Sussex. Courses offered learning disabled adults the chance to try new things, meet new people and work with professional artists on exciting creative projects in comedy, drama, music, photography, fashion, dance, craft and making.

Meanwhile, our Ambassadors group, made up of learning disabled people, met regularly to steer the development of the programme.

Arts Connect is kindly supported by East Sussex County Council, Arts Council England, NHS Hastings and Rother Clinical Commissioning Group, Sussex Community Foundation, and East Sussex Arts Partnership.
