This project builds on the success of Celebrating the A3 Tunnel, when four primary schools on the Surrey/Hampshire border near Hindhead came together to celebrate a major new landmark.
Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, ‘heritage activity’ workshops will be delivered enabling young local people to explore their local heritage. The programme will cover topics including literary, landscape, wildlife and museum collections. Up to 180 young people from 6 local schools will be given the opportunity to participate in the project.
Outputs from workshops will include drawings, creative writing, surveys, photography and landscape assessment. A series of heritage interpretation sessions will run for the young people with the aim of developing specific ideas for the creation of a legacy to celebrate the local heritage knowledge gained from the workshops.
This project will be delivered by Sonia Percival and Denise McCulloch in partnership with Culture Shift.
This project is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, with support from The National Trust, Balfour Beatty and Creative Partnerships Legacy Fund.
